LOWER SHIRE’S TURN

...Concern Worldwide, DoDMA Train Chikwawa and Nsanje-Based Journalists in DRM Communication

Journalists from lower Shire Districts [Chikwawa and Nsanje] have converged on Nchalo, Chikwawa for a four-day Capacity Building Training on Disaster Risk Management (DRM) Communication.

Speaking during the opening ceremony, DoDMA’s Deputy Director for Disaster Resilience Hastings Mwanjoka stressed the need for participants to report and disseminate information throughout the DRM cycle to create a culture of safety and build the resilience of vulnerable communities in the two disaster-prone districts.

Funded by Concern Worldwide with support from the Climate Resilience Alliance Project, which aims at building resilience amongst communities in Lilongwe City, Chikwawa and Nsanje, the training follows a similar exercise held in Mponela from 5th to 7th May. It drew together journalists from Lilongwe City, Dowa and Kasungu.
