The Department of Climate Change and Meteorological Services would like to update the nation on the heavy rainfall which is expected to affect lakeshore areas and several parts of the country due to the low-pressure system that is going to pass through the country. The adverse weather, characterized by intense downpours is expected to be accompanied by strong winds and frequent lightning.

 

  

Category 10 alerts are currently likely to affect Nkhotakota, Salima, parts of Mzimba, Chitipa, Nkhata Bay, Dowa Mchinji, Mulanje and Phalombe.

Category 6 covers most of northern, central areas and also Machinga, Mangochi, parts of Zomba, and Balaka while the remaining districts are under category 5 of warnings.
