Chinese Chamber of Commerce Donates maize worth K80 million and K20 million Cash
The Chinese community plying their businesses in the country under the banner Chinese Chamber of Commerce on Thursday 22nd January, 2026, donated maize worth K80 million and cash amounting to K20 million towards the 2025-26 Lean Season Food Insecurity Response Programme.
Speaking at Capital Hill, Lilongwe during a symbolic handover ceremony, Chinese Chambers of Commerce’s Chairperson Zhou Shanjian said they felt compelled to make the donation.
“This [Malawi] is our second home. We hope that the donation will continue restoring hope to vulnerable communities affected by food insecurity,” said Shanjian.
In his appreciation speech, Chief Secretary in the Office of the President and Cabinet Dr. Justin Adack Saidi said the gesture is an act of responsibility, solidarity and oneness towards the provision of assistance to households affected by food insecurity.
